Big Thicket Association

The Big Thicket Association, founded in 1964, has played a big part in the conservation scene of southeastern Texas, helping establish the Big Thicket National Preserve, and continuing to advocate the health of the preserve and surrounding lands. The Big Thicket Association serves as a support organization for the Big Thicket Science Conference, held periodically to showcase ongoing research in the area, and for the Field Research Station, a facility in Saratoga, Texas, used by visiting researchers for lodging and by the community for meetings and education. The Big Thicket Natural Heritage Trust is an associated effort to help landowners find ways to contribute to conservation.
