Neches River

The Neches River runs across the heart of East toTexas, running generally parallel to the Sabine River, flowing into Sabine Lake below Beaumont. Sabine Lake is the estuary lying at the junction of the Sabine and Neches rivers south of Port Arthur. The headwaters of the Neches River lies between Canton, Athens, and Tyler. The river flows southeastward between Palestine and Rusk, between Crockett and Lufkin, and between Woodville and Jasper, before turning southward where the Angelina River enters the Neches above Spurger. The Neches, now with the contribution from the Angelina, continues from that point southward to near Spurger, Evadale, Silsbee, and Lumberton, to Beaumont.
